Ashley D. Johnson is an experienced biotech patent and trademark lawyer at NK Patent Law, PLLC. Her practice focuses on patent and trademark prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and in foreign countries. Before obtaining her law degree, Mrs. Johnson worked in biochemical research in both the pharmaceutical industry and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Previously, Mrs. Johnson worked 8 years as in-house intellectual property counsel, serving as both patent attorney and a trademark lawyer, at a major packaging corporation in South Carolina, with a focus on Medical Devices and related product innovations. While in-house, Mrs. Johnson managed a trademark portfolio that spanned the global and consisted of more than 300 trademarks. Mrs. Johnson has extensive experience in private practice and brings a very pragmatic approach to client engagement.
Mrs. Johnson is experienced with the patent appeals process, having successfully argued for reversal of Examiner rejections with the Patent and Trial Appeal Board and in foreign patent and trademark matters in Europe and other jurisdictions.
Mrs. Johnson focuses her practice on helping clients build their patent and trademark portfolios by preparing, filing, and prosecuting Chemical, Biomedical and Med Devices, and Mechanical patent applications. In addition, Mrs. Johnson renders patentability, validity, and freedom-to-operate opinions and counsels clients on a variety of intellectual property issues. Mrs. Johnson also works extensively with our trademarks and IP agreements groups.
